Johnny Lee
Johnny Lee is the 2009 National Jitterbug Championship's Collegiate Shag Champion. He also hosts and teaches at the annual San Francisco Collegiate Shag Jam Championships, the world's largest collegiate shag event.
Johnny is the founding member of The San Francisco Jitterbugs, a professional dance troupe known for their vivacious and exciting performances. He has been teaching, competing and performing since 1998. Ever since he saw two dancers "shagging" at The Derby in Hollywood CA in the late 90’s, Johnny has had a fascination with this vintage dance form. Since then, Johnny has appeared on television and in full-length motion pictures, and has also performed with The San Francisco Jitterbugs in front of 70,000 people during the half time show for the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders. In 2001 he earned the 1st place title in the Boogie by the Bay Lindy Hop Championships and 1st place in Balboa Championships in 2004. In 2007, he re-introduced Collegiate Shag to San Francisco founding and producing the San Francisco Shag Jam Championships. In 2008, he taught and performed in Munich, Germany at the Rock That Swing Festival and at the 2009 Canadian Shag Championships.
