Nathan Dias
Nathan Dias specializes in Lindy Hop, a high-energy swing dance from the 1930s and 40s. Nathan also loves to dance Charleston and jazz dance, and recently began dabbling in tap. He started swing dancing in 1997 and lindy hopping in 2000. A regular social dancer in San Francisco since 2001, Nathan actually grew up dancing right here at the 9:20 Special!
He enjoys the thrill, creativity and personal connection of social dancing as well as the challenge and satisfaction on working on and improving his dance. He is known for his infectious enthusiasm and abundance of energy and ideas about lindy hop, and he loves to get other dancers fired up with him!
Nathan was an original member of lindy hop dance troupes SF Bounce and the 3 Minute Maniacs, and loves to perform and entertain! He has also been a competitor and finalist in several local and regional lindy competitions including Boogie By the Bay and the Reno Dance Sensation. Above all else though, Nathan is a social dancer, and you'll still find him out dancing most nights of the week. Nathan started teaching in 2005, and you can read about other classes he teaches around San Francisco on his website: www.swingornothing.com
