Ria DeBiase (from Sacramento, CA)

Ria DeBiase has been dancing and teaching Lindy Hop for over nine years, both in the USA and worldwide. She has also studied Historical Jazz, Ballet, Gymnastics, and Hip Hop. Her dancing style is energetic and musical, passionate and playful.

Ria has been competing and performing since 1998. In Spring/Summer of 2003, Ria toured Canada and the USA with the Harlem Hot Shots. Over the last couple years alone, she has won competitions at the US Open, Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown, National Jitterbug Championships, and the World Lindy Hop Championships.

Ria's teaching style is clear and concise and she can break down complicated moves and concepts so they are easily understandable. She specializes in teaching the basics: connection, flow, rhythmic improvisation, and communication through solid lead/follow technique.

Ria is an exciting follow that brightens up the dance floor when she is on it. She not only looks gorgeous when she is dancing, she has a spirit that truly exemplifies lindy hop. As one of the top follows in the country, we are so happy to have her back in San Francisco to teach at the 9:20 Special.

Ria will be teaching a 3 week Night at the Improv Series with Manu in September. Click here for details »
