9:20 Special Summer Lindy Grab Bag!
For the months of July & August at 9:20 Special we'll be living up to our name and offering some very special things indeed! Each week a different pair of featured instructors will teach the Level 4 class at 7:20pm and Level 3 at 8:20pm, giving you lots of different experiences and something special to keep coming back for all summer long! Drop-ins are welcome in both classes all four weeks, just make sure you are comfortable with the class level as listed below.
Teaching Couples / Special Extension Class Topics are:
July 5th - Yon Richner & Nathan Dias
The Secrets of 6-counts vs 8-counts Psst! Want to know the secret of leading and following 6-counts vs. 8-counts in Lindy Hop? Truth is, there isn't one simple answer, but this class will cover practical exercises that will help you develop the intuition, experience and partner connection that are essential for mixing and matching steps of *any* counts and playing with the music.
July 12th - Kelli Wilkerson & Matt Richey
Level Changes:Get your dancing moving is all kinds of new directions! In this class we are going to focus on moves and movent that takes your dancing out of the normal space by adding level changes and dynamic.
July 19th - Amanda Sharpe & Hunter Demaray
Driving up the Circular Momentum:
Join Amanda and Hunter as they explore what techniques are needed in order to get the most out of your spins. Whether they be slow and controlled or quick and tight you will need these fundamentals to keep you at the top of the game. We shall be going over pointers on how to improve your spins, as well as exercises you can take home that will increase your balance and kinesthetic awareness.
July 26th - Carl Nelson & Nicole Zuckerman
Keep On Moving:
We do this dance because we love to move, but sometimes we forget the moving part during critical moments on the dance floor. This class will help us remember to keep moving throughout the dance.
August 2nd - Pat Wall & Kelli Wilkerson
Stretch and Go:
This class will deal with patterns and moves that have that oh-so-good feeling of stretch and release. We will be working on how to get that stretch and use it to create fun and dynamic moves.
August 9th - Ryan Calloway & Ann Mony
Shake ya body body, Move ya body body:
Use ALL your body parts when you dance! From knee slaps to elbow catches to booty bumps, we'll show you how to engage your entire body so none of it atrophies because of lindy hop.
August 16th - Hunter Demaray & Audrey Kanemoto
Keepin' it classy without the grindy:
Hunter and Audrey will be teaching their techniques to dancing at slower tempos and maintaining class. We will be working on Ballroomin and aesthetics required to bring your slow dancing to par.
August 23rd - Jean Ma & Bromley Palamountain
Lindy on the Edge:
This class is not for the faint of heart. Jean and Bromley are coming back to the 9:20 with an arsenal of challenging moves that will push you to your Lindy limits, but in a good way.
August 30th - Kevin St. Laurent & Jo Hoffberg
Slides
Partner and solo slides - bring slippery shoes!
Cost: $50 for the series (five 1 hour group classes) / $15 drop-in at the door (all five weeks). Includes dance admission.
