Special Extensions Presents: All That Jazz, and a Bag of Chips

3 Workshop for All Levels - July 6, 8, & 13, 2006

Josie Say, from Los Angeles, is an international instructor, performer, and choreographer, who has been featured in movies, TV, videos, and stage shows. Teaching credits include The Camp in Stockholm, the Herrang Dance Camp, the San Francisco/Oakland Swing Dance Festival, The Great Southwest LindyFest, Vanguard University and several cities throughout Japan and Italy. Performances include the World Lindy Hop Championships in Sweden, "The 13th Floor," "The Roseanne Show," The Rose Parade, festivities for the Grammy Awards, The Museum of Latin American Art, The Choreographers Carnival, Dance Chicago and various Disney productions. Being one of the first swing revivalists in the early 90's, Josie has lead and taught multiple generations of the swing dance community.

Showing her versatility as a follow, she has not only won such contests as the 1998 Harvest Moon Ball and San Francisco Swing Jam with different partners. Josie has worked with world-class leaders like David Dalmo, Steven Mitchell, Lennart Westerlund, Chazz Young, and the legendary Frankie Manning. She is not only a specialist in the dances of the swing era but also hip hop, funk, jazz, tap, and brazilian.

Thursday, July 6th, Musicality & Connection - Understand the conversation of dance, important both on the social dance floor and in performance. Learn to connect and react to the music and your partner, translating what you hear and feel. Discover what happens when you go beyond the basics.

Saturday, July 8th, Charleston & Jazz Movement - Using a combination of steps, technique and choreography of jazz dance from the 20s and 30s, learn to emphasize total body movement and to expand your dance vocabulary.

Thursday, July 13th, Hittin' da Breaks - Through hip hop and funk movement and music, learn to think outside the box, expand your musical repertoire, and become a more versatile dancer.

Cost:
$40 for Series (all 3 Workshops) or $18 drop in per class. No partner needed. Class includes dance admission.
